April has flown by, and where did it go? Now I'm looking forward to May and the celebration of Moms! May is by far my favorite month of the year. As a kiddo, when May arrived, it was the month that finally brought warm weather, and we played outside until Mom called us home at dark. It was also the end of the school year and in just a few short weeks the much anticipated summer vacation would begin. We also celebrated several family birthdays during May, and I even chose a date in May for my wedding. Rockstar Birthday Boy Tshirt

My inner rockstar self has taken great delight in watching American Idol since Season One.  I must admit I was worried when Simon Cowell left the show, but was surprisingly very happy with the additions of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez! These two stars renewed my interest in a show that had gotten a little stale for me.  I'm not so happy with the current Season 12. I have enjoyed the singers for the most part, but there has been a little too much country for me.  I really prefer the tempo of rock music (true confession..my all-time favorite Idol contestant is Bo Bice from Season 4). Anyway, the divas currently judging make it uncomfortable to watch, and Randy is just too predictable. I have, however, found a new appreciation for Keith Urban and his music.  He seems like a very nice fellow.  Another favorite show is The Voice. Well, my interest may actually be fueled by my crush on Adam Levine of Maroon 5. I'm not usually into guys with lots of tattoos, but he's a real cutie-patootie! I'm also an Usher fan so Season 4 has been lots of fun for me! Now we can look forward to the season finales of these two shows. So, there's plenty of time for all future rockstars to get the perfect rockstar tee for the big events! Surprise!

So you're expecting a new addition to the family and you're busy getting everything together in anticipation of the big event. Family and friends have been told the exciting news and a sweet Pecking Order Birdie sibling set for three has been ordered for biggest brother and big sister along with an adorable matching onesie for the new baby.  The shirts are delivered and everyone is happy.  Then a visit to the doctor and bingo... the family can now expect not one newborn... but two!  Now that's a surprise!  So mom, who has everything under control, makes plans for one more.  She even has the presence of mind to figure out she needs a new sibling set with four birdies.  Now this is an amazing mom who really has it all together!  Not so sure, in fact completely sure, I would not have thought a minute about the sibling set for the kiddos after hearing this shocking news!  So mom contacts Zoey's Attic to discuss another sibling set with the fabulous idea of using the shirts for a special announcement photo shoot.  Mom orders a set of two shirts and two newborn onesies.. a blue shirt and birdie for biggest brother, a pink shirt and birdie for big sister and two white onesies with yellow birdies for Baby #3 and Baby #4.  The photo shoot is a success. The Hunt!



My First Easter Onesie

In less than three weeks it will be Easter. I'm so excited for the
traditional family egg hunt that always takes place following church services on Easter Sunday. It seems to rain every other Easter, so this year it should be a sunny day! The Easter Egg Hunt is so much fun whether it takes place in the yard or in the house due to inclement weather conditions. And, I love to mix the beautifully decorated 'real' hard boiled eggs with plastic artificial eggs filled with Easter treats for the kiddos and (and old!) alike! The day is topped off with a delicious family meal. Most families I know serve ham, but not this family. No matter what the weather is on Easter, we always have a family barbeque! It's not only Easter Sunday, but also the start of the Spring barbeque season for us.  Ribs, chicken, and hamburgers are on the menu along with Grandma's potato salad (best ever!) and corn on the cob. Hello auto racing fans! The NASCAR and IndyCar seasons have begun!  Last week was Nascar's signature event, The Daytona 500, also know as "The Great American Race."  Lots more great races are coming up on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule at speedways in Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and Bristol, TN.  Then the big event at Talladega Superspeedway is set for Sunday, May 5th.  On the IndyCar circuit, the ultimate race is of course the Indianapolis 500.  It is held every year on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. This year's race takes place on Sunday, May 26th.  Interestingly, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the largest spectator sporting facility in the world and has more than 250,000 permanent seats!  Wow, it's hard to imagine that many people in one place at one time!  So maybe you're a race car fan, or maybe just a fan of the Disney Pixar movie, Cars!  Either way, you will be sure to love Zoey's Attic fun race car design t-shirts! It may be Valentine's Day, but I've already set my sights on the next big celebration! You probably have guessed what I'm referring to...as the saying goes..."Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!"  Is this true for you? If so, and if you live in or near St. Louis, then you really have the luck of the Irish because we celebrate St. Patty's Day not just once, but twice! The city hosts festivities each year on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) hosts another celebration on March 17th, the real St. Pat's Day.  The St. Louis celebration begins on Saturday at the Top of the Morn with a 5 mile run/walk event that winds through the downtown region. Then at 12 noon come "rain or shine" the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade begins with its approximate 120 units including marching bands, floats, character balloons, and family clans.  Irish entertainment continues throughout the day at a special "Irish Village" set up in the midst of all the activity.  Then after recovering from all the excitement, food, and drink it's time to gear up for the next big St. Patty's Day celebration!  On the actual feast day of St. Patrick, March 17th, the AOH hosts another fabulous parade that occurs in the Irish neighborhood of St. Louis affectionately known as Dogtown.  The residents of Dogtown consider their community "a province of the Republic of Ireland."  The St. Patrick's Day Parade has a neighborly touch with lots of Irish dancing, bands, and family units marching proudly and displaying their family crests. Booths with food and drink can be found along the route with traditional servings of corned beef, cabbage, and beer in abundance. Let's just be honest here. We all know as our families grow, our 
lives become ever more complicated, and yes it is easy to forget certain things we never imagined we wouldn't remember forever. Sadly, I'm referring to the details of certain life changing events like the births of our children. Of course we will always (let's hope!) recall the actual date of birth.
