Celebrate With A Bang!

So last year I confessed that I don 't like the Fourth of July holiday. Now, please don't get me wrong... I love celebrating my awesome country and I love most of the festivities of the day, but I just don't like the fireworks. They.scare.me! So there, I said it..I'm afraid of fireworks! I am excited, though, that Independence Day falls on a Friday this year, and therefore we have an extended three day weekend! Friday will be all about family with generations of loved ones gathering for the annual summer barbeque. Saturday, my immediate family will cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals from The Budweiser Brew House Deck at the new Ballpark Village.  The Brew House Rooftop is an awesome venue for watching the baseball game and I'm so excited to share this special day with my family! I'm excited too for the stadium hot dogs and nachos, a MUST for any Cardinal home game! Sunday will definitely be a day for rest and recuperation! When my daughter was born I never in my wildest dreams thought I would one day be shopping online.  I must admit I love it! There are so many specialty shops with just the perfect gifts for anyone and everyone...even those hard to buy for friends and relatives whom seem to have it all! I especially love looking at all the unique outfits and gifts for the little ones. You can find anything from embroidered blankets to sibling shirt sets and even a personalized birthday shirt made to match your party theme! One item that has gotten a lot of my attention is the birth announcement pillow.  As I feel my age more and more (yes, it happens!) and with life being so hectic, I have found my memory isn't quite what it used to be. I'm thankful I decided to video so many special moments like first steps, first words, birthdays, and holidays... you know those times you were sure you would never forget but sadly sometimes do. In recent years I have even turned to taking pictures of where I set my holiday decorations so I can refer back to them the following year when it's time to do it all over again! New Year ~ New Baby?

It's a new year and lots of new babies will arrive in 2014! Be A Sport!

All-Star Sports Theme Shirt

It's the last day of September and it seems all the stars have aligned perfectly! That is, if you're a sports fan! I love this time of year when so many of my favorite sporting events overlap. We have the St. Louis Cardinals finishing in first place in the National League Central Division and heading to the NL Division Series later this week. Our hockey team, the St. Louis Blues, has completed pre-season play and the opening game here at home is also this week. Then, of course, we are home to the St. Louis Rams football team. Well, let's just say I like football a lot and follow the home team, but the Rams play so far this year is making it a bit difficult to be an avid fan. Everyone Loves A Tractor!

 

Oh so many years ago, when I was a kiddo myself, my family spent many Spring and Summer weekends at our cousin's clubhouse on the Meramec River in Eureka, MO. The house had a large wrap around screened in porch and it was lined with one cot after another where all of the kid cousins slept. We, also, did not have indoor plumbing at the "country" home, and it was somewhat frightening using the outhouse during the darkness of the night. By day we would picnic on the sandbar, swim and float the river. In the evenings we would barbeque and then eat the homemade ice cream we had made earlier in the day. The clubhouse was bordered on three sides by farm land. The cornfields were especially fun for playing hide and seek as they provided many avenues for hiding! Soybeans and wheat were planted in the adjacent fields. Everyone loved riding on the combines and tractors when the fields were plowed or the crops were being harvested. I really miss the innocence of these childhood days and love to reflect on the many happy memories of days gone by spent at the clubhouse on the farm. Hello auto racing fans! The NASCAR and IndyCar seasons have begun!  Last week was Nascar's signature event, The Daytona 500, also know as "The Great American Race."  Lots more great races are coming up on the NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule at speedways in Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and Bristol, TN.  Then the big event at Talladega Superspeedway is set for Sunday, May 5th.  On the IndyCar circuit, the ultimate race is of course the Indianapolis 500.  It is held every year on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. This year's race takes place on Sunday, May 26th.  Interestingly, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the largest spectator sporting facility in the world and has more than 250,000 permanent seats!  Wow, it's hard to imagine that many people in one place at one time!  So maybe you're a race car fan, or maybe just a fan of the Disney Pixar movie, Cars!  Either way, you will be sure to love Zoey's Attic fun race car design t-shirts! Let's just be honest here. We all know as our families grow, our 
lives become ever more complicated, and yes it is easy to forget certain things we never imagined we wouldn't remember forever. Sadly, I'm referring to the details of certain life changing events like the births of our children. Of course we will always (let's hope!) recall the actual date of birth. But, if I'm going to be brutally honest here, it isn't always so easy to remember all the specifics including the actual time down to the minute, exact length, and exact weight of each child.
