It's Party Time!

When I was a little girl it was my parents rule to only host one birthday party in which we could invite friends, and that was our 5th birthday. I can still remember just about every detail from that day oh so long ago! I wore a beautiful light blue dotted Swiss party dress, white socks with a small lace ruffle, T-strap shiny black patent leather shoes, and a light blue ribbon in my hair.  On the guest list were my neighborhood friends including Joan, Libby, Jimmy, and Donny. My siblings also celebrated with me. The parties back then were very simple and no one had a theme for the day. Everyone's birthday party was as if it had been molded from the very same cookie cutter. We always played pin the tail on the donkey, opened gifts, sang to the birthday boy or girl, and ate birthday cake and my favorite chocolate ice cream. Then we played for a while with the new birthday toys until it was time to say our goodbyes. It was the perfect day! After all this time it still makes me happy when I think of my very special 5th birthday! When I was a teenager (seems like a lifetime ago!) I would on occasion babysit for my cousin's son, John. When he was a young tyke he loved trucks above all else! I think his first words weren't momma or dadda, but rather truck! When I would watch him all he wanted to do was look out the window and wait for the trucks to pass by.  Luckily it was a busy street so there was never a worry that trucks of all shapes and sizes would be there to entertain him.  He was so excited to see the large semi trucks, the stop and go trash truck, and the clippity-cloppity dump truck. For hours, it seemed, he would repeat the same word..."truck, truck, truck!" How I wish back in the day it would have been possible to have had a personalized shirt made with John's beloved trucks on it. All-Star Sports Theme Shirt

It's the last day of September and it seems all the stars have aligned perfectly! That is, if you're a sports fan! I love this time of year when so many of my favorite sporting events overlap. We have the St. Louis Cardinals finishing in first place in the National League Central Division and heading to the NL Division Series later this week. Our hockey team, the St. Louis Blues, has completed pre-season play and the opening game here at home is also this week. Then, of course, we are home to the St. Louis Rams football team. Well, let's just say I like football a lot and follow the home team, but the Rams play so far this year is making it a bit difficult to be an avid fan. The author, Eric Carle, has written

My little baby girl is getting ready to turn one. (I honestly can't believe it!) I knew the time would fly by, but it really happened in a blink! Anyway, in honor of this momentous occasion, I thought Zoey's Attic could use a line of t-shirts for the birthday girls and boys. Here is the first in what I hope will be many new birthday girl and birthday boy designs. What do you guys think about these?
