The school year is about over, I guess! Since we had so many snow days this past winter the local school districts had to extend the school year by several days so I'm not really sure when the last day is for everyone in our area. Well, the extra days work for me allowing extra time to figure out my teacher appreciation gifts. I'm also thinking about some end of school year/graduation shirts for the little ones. In my experience, my kiddos and their friends love wearing their very own personalized tees.  The shirts for preschoolers and kindergarten graduates are so cute!  I love the design featuring the little boy or girl graduate and especially love that you can customize the skin tone and hair color. There is also a more generic design with a grad cap and diploma which can also be personalized with your little graduate's name. I think the adorable end of year hoot owl shirt is so funny too and perfect for any young school aged child! Now, it's a little more difficult deciding on a teacher appreciation gift since I don't really interact on a regular basis with the teachers to know their personal likes and dislikes.  For me, I really love the tote bags since I always have way too many things to lug around! So I think my kids' teachers might very well like a personalized tote with possibly a matching acrylic tumbler or water bottle as a special thank you for a great year. When I was a little girl I didn't have any money (we weren't given an allowance back then), so I had to be creative when it came to gift giving.  I would often times rummage through my dresser drawers and choose a prized possession of mine to give for a birthday or Christmas present.  For special occasions such as Mother's Day and Father's Day, I would typically make a greeting card by creating an awesome piece of artwork (at least I thought it was awesome!) and adding sentimental words of love and appreciation.  My parents always seemed to love these very personal gifts above all others.  When I became a mom I soon learned how truly special it was to be on the receiving end of such gifts. These "made especially for you" pictures and Mother's Day cards are, in my opinion, the best gifts ever! When my daughter was born I never in my wildest dreams thought I would one day be shopping online.  I must admit I love it! There are so many specialty shops with just the perfect gifts for anyone and everyone...even those hard to buy for friends and relatives whom seem to have it all! I especially love looking at all the unique outfits and gifts for the little ones. You can find anything from embroidered blankets to sibling shirt sets and even a personalized birthday shirt made to match your party theme! One item that has gotten a lot of my attention is the birth announcement pillow.  As I feel my age more and more (yes, it happens!) and with life being so hectic, I have found my memory isn't quite what it used to be. I'm thankful I decided to video so many special moments like first steps, first words, birthdays, and holidays... you know those times you were sure you would never forget but sadly sometimes do. In recent years I have even turned to taking pictures of where I set my holiday decorations so I can refer back to them the following year when it's time to do it all over again! See, I've been distracted and my mind is off in another direction! So back to shopping for gifts online and those sweet birth announcement pillows. What a super reminder of such important facts! When my daughter was born the hospital sent us home with an 11 x 14 inch blank certificate and we had a friend enter the information from her birth in a beautiful calligraphy style, but there really aren't many details.  Basically it just contains her name, date of birth, weight and length.
