I was perusing the internet this morning, looking for zebra's and trying to learn a little bit more about these awesome creatures, when I came across a real life Zoey the Zebra. Here is her website and you can learn more about what this wildlife organization does.

National Grandparent's Day - September 9th
I've always loved Grandparent's day. I think it's such a great idea - of course we have mother's and father's day, but grandparent's day is a great way to pay tribute to our grandmas, grandpas, nanas, papas, or whatever name you call those special people who looked after you, played with you, baked brownies or tossed footballs - your grandparents!
Did you know?
Grandparent's day is always the Sunday after Labor Day. So, this year, Grandparent's day falls on September 9th, 2007.
This year grandparent's day has double meaning for me as it is not only a day in which I can celebrate my grandparents, but now my parent's are grandparents and I can use this day as a way to reflect on how much they've helped me out this past year as I got used to becoming a parent myself. I can give them a present (from babygirl of course) and show them just how much I appreciate the babysitting hours, food preparation and just general support they've given me and the babygirl over their first year as grandparents.
I found an interesting website on grandparent's day:
National Grandparent's Day Website - This gives a little background information on why the day was created. Actually, it wasn't until the mid-70's when a housewife named Marian McQuade decided to push for the creation of grandparent's day. Her main purpose was to help lonely elderly in nursing homes and help young children to gain a better appreciation for the wisdom and heritage provided by their grandparents.
Have any fun ideas about what to do for your grandparents or your parents from your kids? Let us know about them. If we use your idea, we'll send you a free t-shirt (perfect for giving as a gift for grandparents day!) :)
Here are some things I thought might be cute to give as gifts to the special grandma and grandpa in your life. Also, if you're looking for a good time to announce a pregnancy, this grandparent's day might just be perfect! Imagine surprising the grandma or grandpa to be with a present from his or her future grandson or granddaughter!

Bun in the Oven T-shirt and Pregnancy Announcement Idea
When I was pregnant with my first baby (the same one that is about to turn 1 in two weeks!) I was trying to find a funny, cute way to tell my husband that we would be expecting a baby. Even before we decided to have a baby or even talked about getting pregnant, we used to always joke about "bun in the oven"... not sure why, but we did.
When it came time to announce my pregnancy to him, I did so by placing an actual hot dog bun in the oven and then printed out a sign that said "Tim, open me". After walking in and out of the kitchen numerous times again and again without noticing the sign and with me about to DIE of nervousness/excitement, etc. I couldn't take it anymore and marched right in there and pointed to the sign. It took a second but he opened the oven to find the bun and a card I had put in there and just said slightly dumbfounded, "no... no... really?"... don't get me wrong he was thrilled, just overly shocked and emotional. It was such a fun memory for us, I bought (before I had this site and store) a t-shirt that said just very plain "bun in the oven" - it took forever to find it and I couldn't find one I liked, so since starting this store I have of course made a few for purchase. I think they are just funny cute t-shirts, but also make for great surprise pregnancy announcements for first time parents and repeat offenders alike.
Anybody else use something like this? If so, how did you tell the exciting bun news?

Grandpa to Be Baseball T- Shirt
I have a friend whose dad is a HUGE baseball fan. I mean his basement would work as a double if Cooperstown ever needed a stand-in. Well, due to this fact when she found out she was pregnant with a little "future hall-of-fame baseball player", her dad was over the moon. In fact, when she was only about 3 months pregnant, he showed her the little baby baseball mit and bat he had already purchased for his future grandson.
So, knowing about Zoey's Attic and my propensity to design practically anything that someone asks me for, she phoned me up and asked if I could make a "subtle yet cute" grandpa-to-be t-shirt that had a little baseball feel. She wanted to give it to him as a birthday / grandpa to be gift. Of course - I could! Here is the subtle, yet too cute not to wear t-shirt we designed for a special grandpa to be:
Since then, I've had a lot of people tell me that this is perfect for the future grandpas in their lives. I had one customer use it for a pregnancy announcement at the baseball game. How cute is that? She and her husband took her parents to the baseball game and gave them grandpa to be and grandma to be t-shirts as they were routing their beloved Braves on to victory. I thought that was such a fun and unique way of telling them she was pregnant.
Don't forget, I love to collect unique and fun pregnancy announcement ideas. If we use them we'll send you a FREE t-shirt of your choice, so send me them now, internet friends!

New look for Zoey the Zebra
After much debate over who/what Zoey would be and look like, we have settled on this cute little guy. We knew Zoey was a Zebra because of our naming history, but we were looking for the perfect Zoey look. We think this Zoey is just cute and funny enough to best represent our style. What do you guys think about our new Zoey? Hopefully you will be a big fan, too! Here is our "official" new Zoey's Attic logo!:
